‘LET’S TAKE THE LONG WAY HOME’By Gail Caldwell

Caldwell tells the story of her friendship with Caroline Knapp a successful writer, who has just come off the promotional circuit for her successful book “Drinking: A Love Story.” Gail and Caroline bond through their two dogs and during long walks and swims. After Caroline dies of cancer, it takes Gail several years to revisit her memories and resolve her grief Both women had overcome unhappy relationships, alcoholism and the struggle to become successful in their field of work. This book will remind you of friends you have had and of friendships you wish you’d had. Although it is a memoir, “Let’s Take the Long Way Home” (Random House, 208 pages, $23) moves and reads like a novel. It will make you laugh, and it will make you cry. It’s worth the journey.

Cookie Davis, Murray Hill’PROBLEM IDENTIFIED’By Scott Adams

Successful cartoonist Scott Adams is no longer a lowly cube dweller, but he still has his finger on the pulse of modern American business. In the latest hilarious collection of the adventures of his alter ego, “Dilbert” (Andrews McMeel, 224 pages, $16.99), he takes on “pointy-haired bosses” everywhere as Dilbert, Wally, Carol, Alice and their fellow workers tolerate their boss’s “misdeeds, missteps, mismanagement and utter incompetence.” They confront random drug testing, changing technology, bankruptcy, downsizing and layoffs. The full title is “Problem Identified: And You’re Probably Not Part of the Solution.” You will be LOL.

C.F. Foster, Riverside’DEAR JOHN’By Nicholas Sparks

After watching the film “Dear John,” I just knew the book by Nicholas Sparks had to be better … because the book is always better than the movie. After flipping the pages, I discovered that I was wrong. “Dear John” (Grand Central Publishing, 276 pages, $13.99) is about a boy and a girl who fall in love. The boy serves in the military, and the girl attends university. Tragedy after tragedy strikes. Oh … how like Nicholas Sparks. First make the reader happy, then mess up everything. Maybe I’m a little biased because I am currently head over heels in love, but the love in this “love story” does not come across as real. John is in love with Savannah

They may not be

They may not be brand new, but they will work.

? If your child insists on getting a new backpack but his old one is in perfectly good condition ? suggest sewing patches on it or even painted it with some fabric paint to change it.

? For some supplies, you should wait until the teacher says that your child needs them. If your child?s teacher never mentions any necessary back-to-school supplies, ask. Find out what kinds of back-to-school supplies your child will need for the year.

? Consider buying notebooks made out of recycled paper and other products that are made with mother earth in mind. Students go through a ton of back-to-school supplies a year ? make sure that you help eliminate the problem of waste.

o Do not buy more back to school supplies than your child needs ? and if you do, be sure to save them and use them the next year.

o If your child ?brown bags it? every day, consider invested in a fun lunch pail or a cloth sack to cut down on waste.

Very interesting. I hope we can get some virtual lawyers too and lay off some organic models? That may actually be another good outcome of this technology, but the Virtual Jury is still out?

And California is also working on a cool system in Los Angeles, I happen to meet a Superior Court PhD assistant working on how to enlighten judges to deal with Drug Abusers in such a way, as to use empathy and fatherly type skills to get the abusers to want to come clean. This is an interesting report she was writing while on vacation in Billings, MT. She is working with the same court who put together this project:

I believe that the government can cut its staff and save taxpayer?s money and change many offices into the virtual system, government can be a web site, unless it is absolutely necessary to put people at a counter.

It makes to move with the ebb and flow of society and their Interests and Internet Searches. Consider this in 2006.

So first of, if

Posted on Thu ,02/09/2010 by admin

So first of, if you?re refused a test drive, don?t buy the car! You don?t want to be stuck with a car you?re either not comfortable in or have a blind spot you would not know about unless you test drive it. The goal of a test drive is to experience the same driving conditions the car will be used after you buy it. If you commute, drive the car in both heavy traffic and at highway speeds. If you often drive into the mountains, try to find some steep grades to climb. Drive over bumps, take tight corners and test the brakes. Listen for mechanical noises, any clunks or unusual sounds. The engine should not sound rough either.

Try to stay focused as you?re test driving the car.

A terrorist attack that targeted

Posted on Thu ,02/09/2010 by admin

A terrorist attack that targeted the Levee system in New Orleans could have in fact been even worse because it would have came with no advanced warning and many of the people who left prior to Hurricane Katrina would have still been in New Orleans. Many of The people who stayed and stocked up on the basic necessities would not have had a chance to do so if it were a terrorist attack with no warning.

A terrorist attack would actual add the additional level of complexity because law enforcement would be tied up trying to find the terrorist and making sure no other attacks happened. If Hurricane Katrina gives us a snapshot into the type of response that can be expected to a terrorist attack I for one am very worried.

Released in 1996 it was the first time people got to see same sex relationships set in Indian society. Theaters were burnt and much high drama and tension was caused outside cinemas across the country. Debates were held for and against the banning of the film. Either way the film achieved one main thing. It helped to open up people?s minds. You could even say it cleared the way for future experimentation.

Today with so much information at the disposal of many people in India Bollywood seems to have a wider canvas to paint on. While formula or masala films as they are also know will probably always be made here, an almost parallel universe of ?New Age? films seems to be forming. Never before seen together on screen couples is the latest fad to hit our extremely colorful world of celluloid.

Rather than dig them out,

Rather than dig them out, he built his stores around them and the town sprang up from there. While the story is not true, it does very colorfully draw a picture of the sort of settlers who established the town.

One more town, which should be noted here, is Katherine. It also developed once the Overland Telegraph line was in place and operational. In 1879 two men, Alfred Woods and Alfred Giles, brought in stock and began a homestead, which they named Spring Vale. Their original Homestead is the oldest in the Northern Territory and is open to the public as a part of the Territory’s historical heritage.

The government of the Northern Territory is one of Legislative Assembly. It is still a Constitutional Monarchy, but has an Administrator and a Chief Minister. The Assembly does have about the same powers as the governments of the States of Australia, but it does so by the delegation of powers from the Commonwealth Government, rather than by constitutional rights. It is represented in the Federal Government by two members in the House of Representatives and two Senators.

While there was a referendum put forth in 1998 for the Territory to become a State, it was defeated.

When others do chores, allow them to do so in their own way. Don?t be tempted to do things again in your way.

4. Prioritise

5. Plan ahead. This can be useful in terms of shopping, batch cooking and freezing.

6. Weigh up the personal benefits of putting some tasks out to tender, i.e. ironing, cleaning. It may be worth the money.

7. Can you use the time when you are exercising to do some mental planning.

8. Commuting time may be right for you to catch up on your reading, or doing some work related task you would otherwise do at home.

9. Only watch television programmes that really interest you. It can be useful to code in what you want to watch and otherwise keep the box switched off.

It is likely the first thing they see on your office wall or even on your printed materials. The important thing to remember is that you should make sure it is useful and can be easily recited by everyone that works for you.
